WERC Conference Tackles Legislative And Regulatory Issues In Warehousing

As the premier association for warehousing and distribution professionals, the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) is pleased to present feature presentations on several of the warehousing industry's most prominent legislative and regulatory issues at its 27th Annual Conference. Sessions will cover C-TPAT, Trucking Hours of Service Rules (HOS) and Warehousing's Legal Issues. The Conference will be held on May 16-19, 2004 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, GA.

Barry Brandman, president, Danbee Investigations, will lead a feature presentation on "C-TPAT: Strategies for Securing the Supply Chain." The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) initiative has had a major impact on logistics. Mr. Brandman will provide a clear explanation of the C-TPAT program including strategies for receiving (and keeping) C-TPAT certification and how to get logistics partners to support C-TPAT security efforts. Attendees will learn the distinct financial benefits certification offers companies as well as what top companies are doing to protect their imports from terrorism, sabotage and contamination.

George Grossardt, VP Alliance Services, Schneider Logistics, will lead a roundtable discussion on "Trucking Issues & Warehousing." The trucking industry is being challenged with a convergence of issues that will eventually have an impact on the warehouse cost of transportation services. Topics include driver shortages, new hours of service rules (HOS), insurance costs, Homeland security and more.

Ann E. Christopher, vice president & general counsel for Kenco Group, Inc. will share her expertise during a roundtable discussion on "Warehousing's Legal Issues." Attendees will gain an informed perspective on laws and regulations as they impact warehousing businesses and learn how to best address risks and challenges to their operations. This discussion will address legal issues that impact the warehousing industry.
