Transport Tracking Deploys DLI 8400 Rugged Tablets
The STORM Automated Debris Management System, designed to aid in mobile recovery and clean-up efforts following a natural disaster, sent Transport Tracking, LLC. in search of a rugged tablet computer that provided:
- a superbright, sunlight-viewable touchscreen display
- multiple data collection options including integrated barcode, RFID and smartcard readers
- an integrated QWERTY keyboard for text input
Whenever a natural disaster strikes, the first priority of any emergency response effort is to tend to the injured and deliver much needed aid. Often hampering those efforts is the massive amount of disaster-related debris - downed trees, damaged buildings, overturned vehicles and more - that can clog roadways impeding search and rescue operations, and slowing down efforts to restore basic services like water, gas and electricity. As a result, debris removal efforts play a vital part of both immediate and long-term disaster recovery efforts. Managing those efforts in a way that saves time, reduces error, and cuts down on fraud is a daunting task for both government agencies and contractors alike.
The STORM ADMS solution was developed by Transport Tracking with this challenge in mind, providing emergency response agencies and debris management contractors with an integrated suite of applications designed to improve driver, load, and dump site tracking of disasterrelated debris. Meeting the Army Corps of Engineers requirement for an Automated Debris Management System, STORM ADMS provides a ticketless debris tracking system that works at the dispatch site, point of debris loading, interim and final dump locations.
