Sears Names Genco As A Partner In Progress

GENCO Distribution System, Pittsburgh, PA, has been named as a Sears Partner in Progress for 2002 and "Innovation Source of the Year" in logistics by Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Partner in Progress awards are presented annually to a select group of vendor companies that supply Sears, Roebuck and Co. with quality products and services, from apparel, appliances and tools to marketing, transportation services and technology. More than 10,000 sources competed for this award in 2002.

"GENCO has been a first-rate business partner for Sears Logistics Services," said Gus Pagonis, senior vice president, supply chain management for Sears and president of Sears Logistics Services. "Every day, they make a positive contribution to the efficiency and dependability of our logistics processes."

Herb Shear, CEO of GENCO, and Curtis Greve, president of retail services for GENCO, were honored on April 8 at an event hosted by Sears Chairman and CEO Alan J. Lacy at Sears headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Begun 20 years ago, the Partners In Progress program recognizes sources that make significant contributions to the growth of Sears' businesses and the creation of new ways to better serve Sears' customers. The winners were selected from nominations submitted by Sears' employees who purchase goods and services for the company.

"GENCO is honored to be recognized by Sears," says Herb Shear, CEO. "This award recognizes the efforts and results that our teammates in the five Sears facilities, and our teams in Asset Recovery, Systems and Support teams achieved in 2002 for Sears. Their efforts, along with our partners at Sears that we work with every day have enabled all of us to achieve the highest levels of performance in GENCO and outstanding results for Sears."

In addition to being recognized as a "Partner in Progress," GENCO was also presented the "Innovation Source of the Year" award for logistics. In order to qualify, nominees must produce measurable results in categories of: Drive Profitable Revenue Growth, Be a High Performance Team, Be Customer Driven, and Pursue Improvement in Productivity and Returns.
