Schneider National Puts 2009 In The Record Books

In a year when others in the transportation industry scaled back or eliminated services, Schneider National continued to focus on operational excellence, invest in its business and expand solutions to meet customers' needs. In doing so, Schneider, a premier provider of transportation, logistics and intermodal services, was able to create innovative programs for its customers and wrap up an award-winning year.

In 2009, Schneider collected 43 awards for its strong customer service, resourceful solutions and commitment to the environment from shippers, government organizations and industry media for the services provided and initiatives executed.

"Our customers look to us to navigate complex supply chains and manage intricate transportation details," said Mark Rourke, president of truckload services at Schneider National. "By focusing on customer needs and providing exceptional service, Schneider was able to further position itself as an industry leader and look back on 2009 with pride for a job well done."

Transportation and logistics solutions created and executed by Schneider's Van Truckload, Intermodal, Dedicated, Bulk, Transloading and Distribution, Transportation Management (brokerage) and Expedited lines of business were all recognized throughout the year.

Added to the collection of accolades is Schneider's most recent award from Pep Boys. The automotive parts and service chain named Schneider National its Intermodal Carrier of the Year, noting Schneider's on-time delivery and load acceptance rates — both ranking at 99 percent.

Highlights from 2009 include Schneider's fourth SmartWay Award of Excellence from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, second intermodal award from Bon-Ton Stores, Carrier of the Year from Kimberly-Clark and the Supplier Excellence Award from Procter & Gamble, a customer it has done business with for over 50 years.

"Whether it's one of Schneider's oldest or newest customers, we're honored to be able to deliver transportation solutions to them all," added Bill Matheson, president of intermodal services at Schneider National. "Each award sends a powerful message about the skilled associates, resources and technology we have and the emphasis we put on exceeding our customers' expectations. The service these awards recognize is carried out daily with every load arranged and each mile driven by our associates. We couldn't do it without them."
