Remote Workstations Keep Computers Off The Shop Floor
Solidiform, Inc. (Fort Worth, TX) manufactures aluminum castings. The workflow in the company involves creating a computer-generated model, which is then used to manufacture a hard aluminum casting. Unfortunately, workers on the shop floor could not access the necessary computer-generated models and files.
Tracking jobs on the shop floor and properly accounting for the time spent on each job were also problems. To solve the job-tracking inefficiencies, Solidiform installed an ERP (enterprise resource planning) solution from Lilly Software Associates (Hampton, NH). With this system, real-time labor could be charged to every job.
