Penton Names New Chief Editors For Logistics Today And Material Handling Management
Penton Media recently announced editorial promotions for its Logistics Today and Material Handling Management brands. Perry Trunick has been named chief editor for Logistics Today magazine and its Web site, www.logisticstoday.com. Clyde Witt has been appointed chief editor for Material Handling Management, including Material Handling Management. In their new roles, Trunick and Witt will be responsible for the editorial direction of their respective magazines, as well as e-media content and events for their publications.
Trunick has covered logistics and related subjects since 1979. He began his career at Handling & Shipping Management magazine and was appointed editor for the renamed Transportation & Distribution in 1988. Trunick became executive editor of Logistics Today following the rebranding of the publication in 2003. He has covered all facets of logistics, including air cargo, ocean freight, motor carriage, rail/intermodal, small shipment/expedited, warehousing, material handling, site selection and global logistics.
He is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and a former member of the Society of Logistics Engineers. Trunick has been a speaker at the annual conferences for both of these organizations, as well as other industry events.
Witt has served in a variety of editorial roles at Material Handling Management over the past 23 years. In addition to editorial management duties, he has overseen special features and photo assignments and writes a regular, award-winning column on packaging, "Transport Packaging."
Witt has received 18 awards from the American Society of Business Publications Editors Association and last year received that organization's editorial excellence award. He has also received two awards from the International Association of Business Communicators. Witt has twice served on the advisory committee for the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute's Packaging Productivity Forums. He has been a conference moderator for the past 12 years for the Pack Expo Conference and has served as a judge in the Institute of Packaging Professionals' AmeriStar Packaging Competition.
