Metallic Transit Thermometer

The ColdSNAP self-contained recorder is designed to protect shipments by recording critical low temperature conditions of refrigerated, temperature sensitive products in storage or transit.

The miniature, self-adhesive device has a ±2°C accuracy bimetallic sensing element that snaps at its critical cold temperature, permanently turning an indicating window from clear into bright red. The manufacturer states that the all-mechanical plastic-housed recorder has a long storage life. In addition, its patented design can eliminate the need for delicate chemical sensors and fragile glass, and it requires no batteries.

The device measures 1.38- × 0.69- × 0.22-in. thick. Its length with the activation tab is 2.13-in., and it weighs 0.15-oz. Users install the device by allowing the sensor to stabilize at the product temperature, pulling the safety tab to activate, and finally attaching it with a self-adhesive backing.
