Case in point: Unilever Bestfoods has a foodservice division, Tier One, that ships primarily to key customers like Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Burger King and other major fast food customers. Unilever serviced these customers from a traditional 3PL, but needed a provider with sophisticated systems capabilities to provide both information and reports close to real time.
So, they came directly to DSC Logistics. We were already handling Unilever’s retail and other food service divisions at one of our Logistics Centers so they knew we were ready to help them manage this change. They wanted to consolidate operations and integrate the Tier One business into DSC’s system, allowing them to leverage our information systems connectivity.
DSC supported Unilever by managing the project, collaborating with both Unilever and the former 3PL throughout the transition and leading communication among all parties. We gave special attention to the transportation of the inventory (over 100 truckloads) from the small facility to our Logistics Center, to inventory accuracy and to the high level of quality administration required with prepared foods.
