Using a single, 500-nozzle printhead, the new LegiJet Model ML500 high-resolution ink jet coder is designed to produce single and two-dimensional bar codes, variable-sized text, plus graphics and logos up to 2.8-in. high on virtually any surface.

Considered well suited for carton coding, this fully addressable unit outputs any combination of large- and small-character codes ranging in font size from five points (.06-in. high) to 280 points (2.8-in. high). Messages are printed with 180-dpi clarity at speeds reaching up to 175-ft/min.

Depending on font size, the unit can produce messages with one to 50 lines of code, offering capital and lower-case letters, as well as bold and italics options. The system can be driven by either a Windows-based controller or a user's own PC.

Compatible with Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000 platforms, the advanced controller incorporates a full VGA graphical display and standard keypad with touchpad. Hard drive and RAM features provide unlimited storage for TrueType fonts, BMP graphic files, bar code symbologies, and messages, according to the manufacture.

In addition, the manufacturer supplies a colorful array of economical, environmentally safe inks for both porous and non-porous applications. The device's printhead can print a single message in up to four different colors—black, blue, red and green.
