General Freight Launches International Logistics Division
General Freight Services, Inc. announced it has hired worldwide logistics veteran David Higgs to lead the company's International Logistics Division.
"International Logistics opens a broad range of services and products that we can offer our customers. These include import and export services, transloading, cross docking, warehousing, international drayage, and customs brokering, all of which will be supported by state-of-the-art information technology," said Dan Smith, Chairman and CEO.
"When our customer sources products from outside the United States, they no longer have to rely on someone else to provide the required services. General Freight Services is the only call they will need to make. We will do everything for them. 'One source, one contact, and one price,'" concluded Smith.
Higgs has nearly two decades of experience in the International freight forwarding and logistics industry. Previously, Higgs was CEO of GeoLogistics/Lep International in South Africa, where his team achieved significant growth and expansion. Subsequently, he moved to the UK division to lead sales and expansion in that country.
Higgs then joined Schenker as regional vice president, where he successfully managed 10 offices in the southeastern region of the United States, with a staff of more than 300 employees.
Later, he joined BAX Global as director of business development for the BAX Global 3PL division.
"David brings leadership and a proven track record in the International Logistics arena. We're pleased to have David join our team and lead our International efforts," said Smith.
