FedEx Chooses New Agent in China
Federal Express has chosen Shanghai Da Tian International Transportation Co. Ltd. as its agent in China, the Memphis-based mail and small-package giant has announced.
The selection ends FedEx' agreements in China with its previous agents in the world's most populous country.
According to Chen Jialiang, who oversees FedEx' Pacific affairs, designation of a single agent will mean better management of FedEx operations in Shanghai.
Four months ago, FedEx launched a Web site that uses Chinese characters so that customers can track orders.
FedEx and Da Tian began joint operations in Beijing on Nov. 1. FedEx runs five flights a week from Shenzhen Huangtian Airport in southern China that link the southern area to the company's services in 209 other countries and regions.
FedEx began serving China in 1984. It now delivers in 144 Chinese cities, the company said.
