e-Commerce Firm Taps UPS Logistics Group for Supply-Chain Management
Business-to-business electronic-commerce firm bestroute.com LLC has selected UPS Logistics Group to manage distribution, warehousing, fulfillment and shipping.
bestroute.com is an online stocking distributorship that focused on providing real-time hard-to-find trade products not stocked by local and regional brick-and-mortar distributors. The company is based in Syracuse, NY, and expects to debut its services in the spring.
bestroute.com's inventory of 60,000 electrical, voice and data stockkeeping units will be housed at UPS Logistics' Technology Center in Louisville, KY. The inventory—and the space needed to accommodate it—will grow substantially, as bestroute.com expands its offerings to a variety of markets, including heating/air-conditioning, pipes and valves, and plumbing.
Among services UPS Logistics will provide are inventory management, same-day delivery of emergency orders, real-time order tracking and streamlined returns processing.
"We have designed bestroute.com's supply chain to be flexible and dynamic enough to accommodate their rapid growth projections," UPS Logistics Chief Operation Officer John Sutthoff said.
Michael J. Gambino, founder and president of bestroute.com, said that choosing UPS Logistics as a third-party provider was a strategic decision.
"The bestroute.com business model is all about creating wins throughout the supply chain, so UPS Logistics' experience and track record count for a lot," he said. "They have many, many opportunities these days from budding e-commerce companies, and we're excited that they saw in us the same kind of capabilities, experience and opportunity levels we saw in them."
The UPS Logistics Group, with headquarters in Atlanta, is a subsidiary of United Parcel Service.
