Drop Box: SAVR Develops Smart Drop Box
SAVR Communications, Inc. has developed technology that will drastically reduce expenses and environmental impact associated with the logistical services of the three express shippers. SAVR's Smart Drop Box communication device (which is being demonstrated at the RFID World Conference in Grapevine Texas March 26th through the 28th) incorporates real-time communication capability that will autonomously alert drop box owners when a package has been received.
As part of the service supplied by the top three express shippers, and for the convenience of their customers, they have collectively placed over 100,000 drop boxes throughout the United States. Because of their focus on customer service, these shippers stop by each of those drop boxes at the end of every business day. They spend significant dollars on labor and fuel to pick up any and all express packages; however, not all stops yield a package. Enter SAVR Communications who has developed a retrofittable device that will alert the shipper when a package has been received, including a date and time stamp of the deposit.
This allows the shipper to effectively manage its drivers and vehicles, while simultaneously addressing customer needs. Additionally, the tag is expected to have the support of Green Initiatives which seek to minimize the impact of businesses on the environment. No longer will express shippers drive to an empty drop box, leave an idling vehicle, and unnecessarily consume an employee's time. Now they'll have a way to conserve natural resources while using fuel and labor as efficiently as they possibly can.
With combined fleet sizes reaching almost 300,000 vehicles, and with up to 30% of all drop box stops NOT yielding a package, SAVR's technology will significantly improve their operational efficiencies while helping them protect the environment.
