DPS Software Systems, Inc.gas, NV June 28, 2000 – <%=company%> , has selected Kofax Image Products as their primary Document and Data Capture platform. Based on Kofax Ascent Capture software with DDI architecture, DPS will provide transportation specific solutions based on the various business models within the industry including LTL, TL, Intermodal and Expedited.

DDI - Document, Data and Internet - Ascent Capture provides flexible scanning and efficient indexing through automatic forms identification, accurate zonal OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) that can accurately extract data from each document as it is processed. Designed to meet the needs of high volume and distributed capture of documents, the Ascent Capture Internet Server offers a compelling and cost effective alternative for tracking and managing Bills of Lading and Delivery Receipts.

Standards and Efficiency – The Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards (VICS) Association has actively promoted the benefits of a Standard Bill of Lading. The Bill of Lading number has become a critical data element with the advent of the EDI 856 Ship Notice Manifest and EDI 214 Carrier Shipment Status transmissions. The Standard bill of lading will insure that all key data elements are present and documented in a uniform manner. Based on this standard, DPS has developed a predefined Batch Class and scripting to provide automated forms recognition. When processing a Standard Bill of Lading, Ascent Capture automatically extracts all vital data and box selections from the form and releases the Data and Documents to the host system(s), dramatically reducing labor costs while improving data accuracy.

DPS extends Ascent Capture to meet the needs of the carrier through custom modules and integration with existing Line of Business applications and Document Imaging Systems including FileNET, IBM, KeyFile, Eastman Software, Documentum, IMR, Magellan, Optika, Excalibur, Lucent and many others. This flexibility allows carriers to leverage Ascent without having to replace their existing investment in their Imaging system.

"Kofax views our newly formed relationship with DPS as an excellent opportunity to expand the integration of Ascent Capture and other imaging products within the transportation industry, an industry poised to derive tremendous benefits and cost-savings from automating document capture and related processes".
