DHL Wins Royal China Business
DHL, one of the leading express delivery and logistics company, announced it has been chosen by Royal China and Porcelain Companies as its primary U.S. shipping provider. Royal China is the exclusive U.S. distributor of Spode, Royal Worcester and Vista Alegre brands, and will now use DHL for retail and direct-to-consumer express delivery of its tabletop, fine china and giftware products.
Based in Moorestown, N.J., home to its distribution center and corporate offices, Royal China was seeking a reliable transportation carrier that has strong nationwide coverage, and pays close attention to handling of fragile contents. According to Royal China, DHL both met these qualifications and provided a more responsive level of local account representation.

In the US, Royal China is the exclusive distributor of Spode, the iconic Christmas tree pattern dating back to 1937 that popularized holiday dinnerware. These and other patterns distributed by Royal China are shipped to some of America's largest and well-known retailers via DHL's next day and ground delivery. Orders peak during the holiday season as retailers and consumers seek the popular holiday giftware.
In order to properly manage inventory levels, Royal China works with many large retailers that keep a close eye on incoming shipments. The company is now using DHL ProView™, a suite of web-based shipment visibility and event notification tools. With ProView, Royal China has a tool that automatically monitors and communicates valuable shipment status information in real time. ProView can also provide information automatically to Royal China's retailers and consumer customers, so they are alerted when a shipment is enroute with a courier, or potentially delayed due to an incorrect address. "ProView lets us be more responsive to our customers, so not only is it a time-saver for our people, but a value-add that enhances the level of service to our customers," added Wolf.
To protect delicate shipments for air and ground transport, Royal China product is individually wrapped in foam, and packaged using PELASPAN-PAC® or "peanuts" which is a high performance flowable cushioning material. DHL picks up these shipments daily from the Royal China US Distribution Facility in Moorestown, N.J. where they are processed through DHL's local service center in Runnemead, N.J., and transited through DHL's air and ground network for nationwide delivery to retailers and consumers.
Royal China is also using DHL's international express services, for shipping samples to and from vendors in Asia and other off-shore locations.
