DHL Global Mail Introduces New Level Of Efficiency To Expedited Mail Industry
Always seeking new ways to make customers' mailing more efficient, the company that pioneered expedited mail is introducing yet another innovation to the industry. DHL Global Mail, which provides unmatched solutions for high-volume mailers and parcel shippers, has become the first mail expediter to implement Transportation Management System (TMS) technology.
DHL Global Mail's TMS is an advanced software system for managing shipments between pickup and delivery, as well as the company's relationships with transportation partners in its vast delivery network. Reaching more than 220 countries and territories, DHL Global Mail operates one of the world's largest networks for national and international mail services.
The new TMS will provide DHL Global Mail with unprecedented shipment visibility within its network, which will benefit customers through improved tracking capabilities. The system will also enhance DHL Global Mail's ability to identify opportunities for cost and operational efficiencies. This advantage will help keep down mailing costs for DHL Global Mail customers, who are already saving on postage by partnering with the mail expediter.
"Our groundbreaking implementation of this TMS is a major step forward in our continuous search for process improvements," said Frank Bettgenhaeuser, Senior Vice President of Operations for DHL Global Mail - Americas. "We work tirelessly toward quality enhancements like this to continue offering our customers the best possible service and value."
The first phase of the TMS project, implemented late last year, covers transportation between DHL Global Mail's 17 strategically located mail terminals throughout North America. Under the second phase, the functionality of the new TMS will encompass customer pickups and USPS deliveries. The third and final phase will extend the functionality of this powerful software to mail and parcels sent by DHL Global Mail customers in the U.S. to international destinations.
