CSX Names Vice President for Illinois Gov't Affairs

CSX has appointed Brenda A. Russell resident vice president, state relations for Illinois, beginning April 1. Russell will oversee legislative and government affairs for CSX in Illinois. She will work in Chicago.

"Brenda has been an outstanding achiever with a solid understanding of transportation issues and the legislative process," Michael J. Ruehling, vice president for state relations, said. "We are extremely fortunate to have her directing our government affairs activities in Illinois."

Russell joined CSX Transportation in 1994 as a lawyer focusing on real-estate transactions, intellectual property, and labor law, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Federal Railroad Administration standards and regulations. She was promoted in 1998 to resident vice president, community relations, in charge of establishing relationships with officials and other residents of cities in which CSX operate.

Russell holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University, and is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
