CargoWise edi Sponsors 2008 BIFA Freight Service Awards In The Environment Award Category
CargoWise edi,a leading provider of integrated international supply chain logistics management systems, is pleased to sponsor this year's British International Freight Association (BIFA) Freight Service Awards for The Environment Award category. The BIFA Freight Service Awards is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2008, and has added this significant new category for the first time. The competition will culminate in an industry gathering at the BIFA Annual Lunch and Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at The Brewery in Chiswell Street, London, UK.
Environmental greening is a foremost topic in today's global economy. Shippers and freight forwarders are seeking clear and cost-efficient ways to reduce their carbon footprint throughout the supply chain. The Environment category is open to companies wishing to present a specific ‘green' initiative or case study which shows consideration for the environment, or demonstrates a reduction in carbon footprint.
Melinda Elmowy, Vice President of Global Marketing for CargoWise edi, points out that there are many initiatives companies can institute for a greener environment by eliminating waste while improving productivity. "In the air cargo industry alone, we could fill about 40 Boeing 747 freightliners each year with paper wasted on documentation, not to mention the labor hours necessary to produce and handle it all," says Elmowy. "Automating a robust integrated electronic documentation and storage process with new technologies makes sense if we are to create a more paperless environment and reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted."
CargoWise edi is proud to have been facilitating customers' green initiatives for several years, and in 2004 the Company released its ediEnterprise integrated software system that provides a paperless approach to forwarders' supply chain operations, reducing global paper trails and facilitating the push toward a paper free office and a greener environment.
