BidSmart A Winner For Schneider Logistics And Trade Extensions

Schneider Logistics, Inc., a leading global logistics provider and part of the Schneider National enterprise, and Trade Extensions, specialists in online negotiations and analysis, have been selected by APICS, The Association for Operations Management, as a 2009 Corporate Awards of Excellence winner for the development of BidSmart – a bid management and analysis tool for transportation tenders. The companies were recognized in the Technology Partnership Award of Excellence that specifically highlights the success that can be achieved when technical providers and corporate clients work together.

Schneider Logistics and Trade Extensions created BidSmart in 2004 and it is now one of the leading online transportation negotiation platforms in the U.S. The system maximizes shippers exposure to the market place of carriers and automates many of the time-consuming and inefficient processes of traditional tendering such as distributing, collating and analyzing RFIs, RFQs and RFPs. Significantly, BidSmart is more effective than traditional tendering because it allows shippers to optimize vast amounts of data to find individual solutions based on their personal criteria and those of their suppliers. Since 2006 nearly $3B of transportation spend has been sourced through BidSmart, generating an average saving of 10 percent.

"This award demonstrates our commitment to our customers and shows how partnering effectively delivers significant benefit to both companies but more significantly the end user," said Trade Extensions president Garry Mansell.

To ensure BidSmart continues meeting the needs of the transportation industry it is constantly improving with the latest version estimated to reduce project set-up time by 10-15 percent and halve the number of steps required for several of the workflow processes. Schneider Logistics' Jack Gross, vice president and general manager of Global Supply Chain Management said, "Since inception, this bidding and analysis tool has saved shippers over $300M in annual transportation spend. In today's competitive environment, it's more important than ever that shippers optimize their supply chains and reduce costs. BidSmart helps them do just that."
