BASF taps Catalyst for WMS
BASF Corp., the North American unit of Germany's BASF, a broad-based manufacturer, has selected the Catalyst Warehouse Management System (WMS) Release 8.0 to manage the company's supply chain in conjunction with BASF's SAP R/3 suite.
BASF Corporation serves a variety of industries by making a broad spectrum of products, including: basic, intermediate, specialty and fine chemicals; nylon fibers; colorants; dispersions; automotive coatings; plastics; crop-protection products; pharmaceuticals and vitamins.
Catalyst, based in Milwaukee and London, said that BASF initially plans to implement the Catalyst system in its 260,000 square-foot Edison, NJ, distribution center. BASF may expand use to distribution facilities around the United States, Catalyst said. The WMS company said that BASF expects the system to be fully operational by mid-December.
The value of the deal wasn't disclosed.
Catalyst described its WMS Release 8. as Web-based, which the company explained makes the product faster to deploy and simpler to integrate with other systems. Being Web-based also allows users to access Catalyst WMS remotely.
The company said that Release 8.0 leverages all Internet technologies and provides customers with full access to the latest computer innovations, along with e-commerce support, easy system maintenance, simple navigation, reliability and adaptability for Internet fulfillment.
