ATC Logistics & Electronics Establishes Ride Share Initiative To Benefit Employees And Environment
ATC Logistics & Electronics (ATCLE), a subsidiary of ATC Technology Corporation (ATC), has established and funded a van pool ride share initiative to benefit its Forth Worth, Texas employees and the environment as the company continues to surge in growth. ATCLE, located at 13500 Independence Parkway, has approximately 2,800 employees. The program is being operated with the support of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (FWTA).
"Our employees are our most valuable asset and we want to do everything possible to make their commute easier and less expensive," said Antony Francis, president of ATCLE. "We are thrilled about the level of participation and plan to expand the program in the future. Along with providing relief to our team members, it is rewarding to know that we are helping the environment as well. We are very grateful for the assistance from the FWTA whose expertise and enthusiasm for the program facilitates it. This is a prime example of a win-win situation."
To establish the van pool initiative, ATCLE conducted a voluntary employee meeting to gauge interest. Employees within the same zip code with similar shifts were identified and grouped. Ultimately, 100 employees committed to participation. The program is currently in the pilot phase, initially focusing on employees in ATCLE's reverse logistics and testing operation, which is its largest business unit.
There are now ten 15-passenger vans, provided by the FWTA, in operation. ATCLE funds the fuel and maintenance expenses. In order to qualify for the program, the FWTA requires at least seven participants per vehicle who meet at a central location for the ride to work. One person is designated as a driver and is responsible for the van, which has access to priority parking at ATCLE's facility.
Along with reduced fuel and maintenance costs for ATCLE employees, additional program benefits include reduced emissions, less traffic congestion and potential personal vehicle insurance discounts. According to the FWTA, cost savings can reach approximately $7,000 per employee on an annual basis.
The ultimate goal is to expand the program throughout the entire company. The van pool is a component of ATCLE's overall green initiatives, which encourage extensive recycling, energy efficiency and other environmentally friendly initiatives.
