Aramex Launches Strategic Move Into North Africa and Forms New Venture in Oman
New Casablanca Operation Is Flagship Station for Region's Burgeoning Market
Aramex International Limited, the international express and freight forwarding company specializing in the Middle East and Indian Sub-Continent regions, announces the launch of its operation in Morocco and a new joint venture in the Sultanate of Oman.
The company's decision to move into Morocco signals the company's launch of a planned strategic expansion program across North Africa.
The new Aramex Casablanca operation will provide all of the company's transportation solutions, including express courier, freight forwarding, warehousing and logistics. Additional services including catalogue mail ordering and special services for critical requirements will also be offered at a later stage.
Aramex Casablanca has been staffed with experienced professionals who enjoy intimate knowledge of Morocco and its diverse transportation requirements. The operation has also been fully equipped with a fleet of vehicles, warehousing/storage and distribution facilities.
"North Africa represents the European gateway to the African continent," explained Fadi Ghandour, President and CEO of Aramex International. "Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya also represent some of the most promising prospects of economic growth in Africa as well as the Southern Mediterranean basin. We are confident that our diverse range of services, expert staff and competitive pricing structure will position us as leaders in the growing transportation markets of the region."
The launch of a new joint venture in the Sultanate of Oman will transform the company's 10-year partnership with its local service provider into an operation that is managed and controlled by Aramex. The move also completes the establishment of Aramex operations in all six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.
"Oman is one of the most strategic markets in the region, we are confident that strengthening our presence in the country will boost our revenues and will create new market opportunities," explained Fadi Ghandour, President & CEO of Aramex International. "The Sultanate is situated at the strategic shipping routes of both the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea. The country is one of the most dynamic markets in the Middle East, and is an important link between the Middle East and Asia."
The new joint venture will herald a qualitative upgrade of Aramex's operations in Oman. A range of express transportation solutions, including express courier, freight forwarding, warehousing and logistics will be expanded and improved. Additional services including catalogue mail ordering and special services for critical requirements are also being planned.
Supporting the growth of both operations will be direct investment in state-of-the-art technology, including sophisticated tracking systems and global intranet/extranet networks. The company will also undergo a comprehensive staff training and development program. This will rely on Aramex's worldwide operational system of having teams segmented by industry, thereby allowing them to provide personalized service that meets every customer requirement in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
