American Relocation & Logistics Moving Strong In Summer 2007

Summer is the household goods moving industry's peak season, and on this official first day of summer American Relocation & Logistics sees a busy period spanning the next several months for Orange and Los Angeles counties. In spite of a real estate industry slowdown that has impacted local household goods movers, American Relocation & Logistics remains in the market and is growing.

"Even though home sales in Southern California are down significantly, American Relocation & Logistics' residential volume, based on bookings, is within ten percent of last year's record numbers," says Joe Magill, general manager of American Relocation & Logistics, Southern California's largest Mayflower Transit agent and the fifth largest Mayflower Transit agent nationwide. "Because of this, American Relocation & Logistics is poised to expand its business with improved services as it meets demand this summer."

In 2006, at a time when many of its competitors stopped servicing local household goods moving customers, American Relocation & Logistics executives remained confident the area would rebound and stayed competitively priced. As a result, the company saw its residential volume grow by 11% for moves into, out of and around Orange County. At the same time, its Los Angeles operations grew by like numbers.

On June 5, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said in a statement that the United States economy will rebound even as residential real estate sales fall, showing that other parts of the economy, though related, are strong. Bernanke is quoted as saying, "We have not seen major spillovers from housing onto other sectors of our economy."

The executives at American Relocation & Logistics agree that the economy will strengthen and, to meet rising demands, they have:

  • added extra warehouse capacity to better handle the demand for short term storage of household goods during the peak season — it now has more than 150,000 feet of warehouse storage space;
  • purchased new handling equipment to move customer goods within the warehouse more efficiently;
  • refurbished or replaced 45% of its interstate trailers and equipment; and
  • equipped all residential salespeople with handheld computers and wireless printers to provide accurate and legible printed estimates.

Over the winter, American Relocation & Logistics introduced a flat-screen carton that eliminates the need to build a wood crate to move large plasma screen and LCD TVs.

American Relocation & Logistics recently announced that four of its residential salespeople were honored by Mayflower Transit and named to its elite Master's Club.
