Direct thermal printers are used for documents with a defined life span
Direct thermal printers are used for documents with a defined life span. The printer does not use a ribbon. Similar to a fax machine, heat sensitive paper becomes black when the paper makes contact with a printhead. Direct thermal paper is sensitive to heat and sunlight and therefore is recommended for indoor, general purpose labeling.
