Over the past few years, gas prices have fluctuated drastically. I grin when I drive up to the gas station and the price is a few cents lower and cringe when it creeps back up. For my car, the difference of a few cents per gallon equates to a few dollars per tank — and although it's nice to save, I'm not breaking the bank when fuel prices rise a couple of cents. However, for companies operating a large fleet of vehicles, the same couple of cents can make quite an impact on the bottom line. In addition, excessive idle time, out-of-the-way routes, and unsafe driving are all expensive issues companies operating fleets face. You can't control the cost of fuel, but you can increase your fleet efficiency to make sure your fleet isn't wasting any — by using fleet management technologies to optimize routes, decrease idle time, and eliminate unnecessary trips.
