The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has proposed new rules for electronic on-board recorder (EOBR) use. The rules will be mandated for a small fraction of the transportation industry but are encouraged for the masses, promoting voluntary use of electronic on-board recorders. The FMCSA proposes to provide some incentives for companies that voluntarily adopt the technology, but at this time the specifics of these incentives are unclear. Submitted by Intermec Technologies
