The ODBC interface allows MASTECH TMS to establish a client relationship with a database during shipment processing. This is made possible by the use if an ODBC driver, which acts as an intermediary between AOSS and a backend database server. MASTECH TMS sends a request to the ODBC driver to retrieve data from the database server. The ODBC driver responds with the requested data. If required, MASTECH TMS may also respond with an update request, which updates the database with processed shipping data like actual shipping weight and rating results.

The ODBC-Link setup interface essentially allows you to specify the data to receive or send, and then query or update commands to transmit to the ODBC driver. Databases with available ODBC drivers include Access, FoxPro, dBase, Informix, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Paradox, Sybase, and Btrieve.
