Russian Railways Logistics Provides Third Party Logistics Services For Novotroitsk Cement Plant

Russian Railways Logistics, subsidiary of RZD Holding, started providing third party logistics services for Novotroitsk Cement Plant, part of United Cement Group Holding. RZDL is responsible for the whole procedure of raw material delivery by rail from Iriklinskoe limestone deposit to the plant, both located in Orenburg region of Russia near the border with Kazakhstan.

In the framework of 3PL project Yekaterinburg branch of RZD Logistics designed and developed logistics schemes, which allowed to maintain railway infrastructure of the private tracks of Novoorsk station, South-Ural Railway, linked to Iriklinskoe field. The company provided complex logistics solutions including handling, rolling stock (dumpcars) leasing, forming dispatch routes, shunting works in the mine and preparing loaded cars for dispatch.

Moreover, RZD Logistics provided scheduled running of the loaded and empty cars. The train was dispatched at a fixed time and arrived to the station on time bypassing the marshalling yards. The scheme allowed the client to plan the work and to allocate resources for finished goods production effectively.

The planned transportation volume will amount to 60 000 tons per month.

According to Dmitry Abdullaev, RZDL Branch Director in Yekaterinburg, previously the client used truck forwarding for raw materials delivery, however, this option was not effective and resulted in shortage of raw materials necessary for production. Additional costs occurred when the client had to buy missing volumes from third-party suppliers. RZDL complex logistics services allowed to optimize the procedure of raw materials delivery, reduced the client expenses and once again proved the rail transport competitiveness.

Russian Railways Logistics has been actively involved in developing complex logistics services for the needs of industrial enterprises, including providing supply, distribution and plant logistics. In the framework of this project the company provides third party logistics services for Guardian Steklo Rostov LLC and develops individual projects for Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant LLC, Severstal Sort Plant Balakovo CJSC and others.
