RFID Tag Reader

This company has expanded their Performa Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) family with several new read-only RFID tag readers.

The Portable reader is an advanced version of the manufacturer's original high-performance handheld reader. Lighter and more ergonomic than its previous version, the new reader is designed to plug into commercially available PDTs and is capable of two-way communications, enabling users to locate articles throughout the supply chain process. According to the manufacturer, this handheld device provides industry leading read range, enabling new applications for mobile inventory.

Also offered is the new General Reader, which is available in packaged form or as an OEM module for integration into other equipment. The reader is designed for applications with moderate read range and multiple-item reading requirements. In addition, it is accompanied by a 50-ohm antenna connector, making it easier for users to design and implement custom antenna systems.

Finally, the new Tag Pad RFID reader is an update to the original desktop reader version. The new reader offers a desktop package and supports either standard RS232 or RS-485 connectivity, or it can be configured for LAN connection. The reader provides moderate read ranges and multiple-item reading.
