Pinkerton Picks Up Logistics Security Consultant

Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations Inc. has acquired Asset Management Solutions (AMS) of Raleigh, NC.

Founded in 1993, AMS is an internationally recognized logistics-security consulting firm with a focus on developing asset management, business controls and process reengineering programs for global manufacturers.

Terms were not disclosed.

Pinkerton will integrate AMS into the parent company's Logistics Consulting group, which consults on security matters for product in manufacturing, storage and distribution.

Clients manufacturer high-technology goods and electronic components.

"The complexities of global production and distribution leave our clients exposed to significant risk of loss throughout the supply chain," Thomas B. Clark, president of Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations Worldwide, explained. "The addition of AMS significantly enhances our ability to serve clients who are interested in sharply reducing inventory losses, improving their ability to maintain quality standards and meet their commitments to customers who depend on timely delivery."

AMS founder and Chief Executive Officer Barry J. Wilkins will become managing director of Pinkerton's Logistics Consulting Group. He'll remain in Raleigh.

Pinkerton Consulting is a division of Pinkerton's Inc., the nation's largest security company. Pinkerton is headquartered in Westlake Village, CA. It is part of the Securitas Group of Stockholm, Sweden.
