Modern Logistics Selects Unisys Logistics Management System Cloud Service For Domestic And International Cargo Operations

São Paulo /PRNewswire/ - Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that its Brazilian subsidiary has signed an agreement with Modern Logistics, an air logistics supply chain company that is starting its operations in the Brazilian market, to use the Unisys cloud-based Logistics Management System (LMS) to handle its domestic and international cargo operations.

The first Brazilian integrated logistics company to operate its own air fleet, Modern Logistics will focus its businesses on tailor-made solutions to serve industrial clients that need to store and ship high-value products such as household appliances, pharmaceutical items, cosmetics, car spare parts and other related products. Over the next five years, Modern Logistics estimates its fleet will grow to 40 freighters operating flights to 15 hubs throughout the country. The company plans to operate in smaller destinations where many freight planes currently do not fly.

The Unisys LMS solution will provide Modern Logistics with a modern, online platform to offer quality, velocity and security in domestic and international cargo operations. Modern Logistics will also use Unisys' Cargo Portal Services (CPS) online booking and shipment management portal.

The Unisys LMS solutions will allow the airline to manage air cargo operations end-to-end, from the initial price quotation to the route's definition, tracking and reservation, product delivery, shipment and air freight calculation.

"It is important for Modern Logistics to be able to count on a modern, secure and end-to-end solution that can support the company's growth right from the start of our air operations, while at the time complying with Brazilian legislation, especially regarding tax matters," explains Gerald Blake Lee, CEO and founder of Modern Logistics.

Unisys LMS is continuously updated and enhanced to provide clients with greater reduction in costs, improve operational efficiency and boost satisfaction, as well as to comply with the strict and dynamic air cargo regulations and in accordance with cutting-edge technologies, such as mobile apps, on-line reservations, billing optimization, adequacy to customs, among others. As it is delivered via a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service, monthly enhancements are part of the service.

Christopher Shawdon, vice president Logistics Solutions for Unisys says: "We welcome Modern Logistics to our growing cargo user community. They will benefit from being part of a group of leading cargo carriers who work closely with Unisys to discuss industry issues and to identify and prioritize enhancements and upgrades to the Unisys services."

Modern Logistics is run by a group of experienced executives in the aviation industry, including Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras co-founder, Gerald Blake Lee, and JetBlue Airways co-founder, John Owen.

Unisys solutions are used to process approximately 25 percent of the world's air cargo.
