Voice Picking At Do-It-Best

Implementing Jennifer has helped Do it Best Corp. create a well orchestrated, more cost-effective and faster process for filling orders. The user-friendly software eliminates the need to use pick lists and stickers, saving seconds from every pick, while allowing associates to confirm their actions by voice.

The voice-directed picking solution provides a web-based management console that displays real-time productivity and management reports that can be tailored to fit exact requirements of the retail service centers. The console gives managers immediate information about warehouse operations, saving them time and allowing them to address any issues as soon as they arise.

Running on a belt-mounted MC9000 connected to a lightweight industrial headset, Jennifer provides hands-free, eyes-free communication with warehouse associates to create a more efficient workflow. Rather than stopping to read pick tickets, workers listen to what Jennifer tells them to do and confirms they are picking the right items by speaking a check digit for each shelf location. "It's quicker," explains Roberts, "you don't have to read something, you don't have to keep looking down, you don't have to pull a sticker off, you don't have to put it on the product, you just have to listen where to go, go get the product, and put it in the tub."
