Teva UK To Deliver Growth And Efficiency With RedPrairie's Warehouse And Workforce Management Solutions
January 8, 2009
Teva UK Limited, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the UK, has selected Warehouse Management and Workforce Management solutions from RedPrairie, a world leading consumer driven optimisation company, to help boost efficiency and improve customer service.
The RedPrairie solutions will drive Teva's expanding business as it creates a Logistics Centre that will become a ˜Centre of Excellence' in healthcare logistics and customer service.
Aviad Bussi, Commercial Operations Director at Teva said, Due to the growing complexity and scale of our business, we are creating a new 24,000m2 logistics centre with advanced features such as automated storage and retrieval, pick by light, a powered conveyor and a paperless operation. We are expecting to increase efficiencies, improve service, save costs and build in flexibility for future changes, so the selection requirements for our new warehouse systems were highly stringent.
Teva evaluated eight suppliers of warehouse management solutions. RedPrairie was selected for a number of reasons including its strong partnership approach in this ambitious project, its experience in the pharmaceutical industry and the service and support that would be offered before and after the go-live
Teva will implement the system at its new facility at Glasshoughton in West Yorkshire, where it will be capable of supporting increases in volume and new ways of serving customers. It will allow Teva to optimise all processes, from Goods In to customer dispatch, and all the people who move them. This will enable agile and efficient distribution operations that will deliver the correct order with lower distribution costs. Teva will use RedPrairie's Workforce Management solution for recognizing the top performing workers and teams and identifying efficiencies and best practice.
Bussi continued, "The project was built and implemented in an incredibly short timescale. The site was level at the start of 2008, but will be delivering output by soon after the start of 2009. The real test has been the exacting standards we have required of ourselves and of RedPrairie - the needs and the regulations for a pharmaceutical supply chain operation introduce a whole different level of complexity and quality. We believe this will be the premier pharmaceutical logistics centre of its kind, and the timescale it has been achieved in and the solutions we have implemented are something of which we can be very proud."
Martin Hiscox, Vice Chairman of the Board, Managing Director and President International, RedPrairie, said We 're delighted that the excellent working relationship between Teva and RedPrairie is delivering such great results, and we are confident that the benefits will become even more apparent as the project develops. We understand the challenges that Teva faces, such as the importance of tracking inventory across the supply chain and the crucial need for traceability at every point from manufacture to consumer.
