FMN Logistics Keeps Cargo Moving On The NDN

FMN prepares to winterize shipments on the Northern Distribution Network and Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan (KKT) route

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan /PRNewswire/ - FMN Logistics today updated its shippers on the potential impact of the upcoming winter on inbound and outbound freight shipments on the Northern Distribution Network (NDN) and the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan (KKT) trucking route.

Each year, FMN Logistics assesses the potential effects on freight shipments along this vital route into and out of Afghanistan. "Our aim is to keep our customers apprised of our plans to keep their shipments moving during the upcoming winter and ensure that their vital cargoes continue to reach their destinations on-time and on-budget," said Bekzod Radjapov, Regional Operations Manager, Central Asia for FMN Logistics.

"We've been operating in Central Asia for over a decade now and have been conducting operations on the NDN since its inception. We believe that our experience enables us to anticipate any foul weather problems before they arise, whether it's road conditions over the Salang Pass or potential delays further up the supply chain," continued Radjapov.

Some common preparations to keep the approximately 300 containers a month FMN processes moving on the Northern Distribution Network throughout the winter months include:

  • Transitioning from 40-foot to 20-foot containers for additional maneuverability during more treacherous road conditions.
  • Receiving real-time In Transit Visibility (ITV) weather and status updates from ground personnel that keep our shippers notified with up-to-the-minute status reports and notifications of any potential delays.
  • Real-time monitoring of all Customs Offices on the NDN routing in order to give immediate feedback to our customers on inclement weather related delays/closures.

Recent Activity
FMN keeps adding to its impressive track record, with recent NDN and KKT shipments including:

  • 2,295 containers of perishable goods
  • 338 containers for ISAF, UK forces/SWE and NOR forces
  • 202 truckloads of other commercial shipments

From fuel shipments to perishable goods for the ISAF warfighter, to oil & gas and mining equipment and retrograde services, FMN Logistics continues to build impressive credentials as one of the leading freight forwarders on the NDN.

New Office
FMN is also proud to announce the opening of a new, fully staffed office in Termez to complement our current activities from our Hairaton, Afghanistan office.
