Leading automotive supplier Delphi Corporation has gone live with RedPrairie's Build To Order software at two new production lines in Romania and Poland that produce customer-specific wire harnesses and ship them in long range sequence to the OEM in Germany.

Delphi Corporate Division Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture uses the system to manage high volume, mission critical production processes in order to meet market demand.

Andreas DiVece, who manages key automotive accounts for Delphi Corporate Division Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture said, "The Build To Order system has made our business more profitable by giving us the flexibility and agility to produce and ship wire harnesses in the right quality, at the right time, and in the right sequence from a distant low cost location."

Delphi selected RedPrairie's Build To Order solution because it was already running successfully at dozens of other Delphi sites and because they felt no other software would be able to meet such complex requirements in such a short period of time. The system now schedules production and ensures that each wire harness is packed on pallets in the right sequence, marked with the correct shipment labels, and loaded onto trucks according to LIFO rules. The system supports long-range sequencing, giving the OEM full control to dictate what is shipped and when.
